McPHERSON, Kan. – The Langston Lady Lions held off the Central Christian Tigers in five sets (25-17, 21-25, 17-25, 27-25, 15-11) to move to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The Lady Lions led early after sweeping the opening 25-17 but the Tigers countered with 25-21 and 25-17 victories in the sets two and three to hold a temporary advantage. Langston managed to take the fourth set, winning 27-25 to send the game to a fifth and final set.
Tied at 8-8, the Lady Lions used a pivotal 7-3 scoring run to seal the 15-11 fifth set victory.
Antonese Tatum led the way with 16 kills and
Kiyah Hedge chipped in 11.
Finehika Uhatafe registered 28 assists and
Brittany Henderson led the team in digs with 14.
Langston (6-8, 2-5 SAC) hosts Randall University on Thursday, Sept. 23. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
