Football Knocks Off Arkansas Baptist 51-20

LANGSTON – Torrence Bardell accounted for four touchdowns, leading the Langston Lions to a 51-20 victory over Arkansas Baptist on homecoming at W.E. Anderson Stadium.

Bardell put the Lions out in front on a one-yard touchdown run, capping a seven-play, 61-yard drive at the 9:51 mark in the first quarter. Octavio Resendiz nailed a 30-yard field goal to give Langston a 10-0 edge entering the second quarter.

Bardell was just getting started as he picked up three passing touchdowns in the second quarter. The sophomore quarterback hit DaMariyea Hamilton for a 10-yard score and Kevin Allen, Jr. for a 46-yard and eight-yard touchdowns. Bardell finished the day with 22 7 passing yards on 12-of-19 passing with three touchdowns.

Tyler Travis led Langston in rushing with 69 yards on six carries. Levon Williams led all receivers with six receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Darius Coppage led Langston in tackles with seven total and 3.5 tackles for loss. Travis Martin registered the lone turnover for the Lions with one interception for 25 yards.

Langston (5-2, 4-1 SAC) is back in action on Saturday, October 28th versus Ottawa-Arizona. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at W.E. Anderson Stadium.
