Langston Roars Back vs Nelson University

LANGSTON – Late game heroics paved the way for the Langston University Lions to roar past the Nelson University Lions 35-29 on Saturday night at W.E. Anderson Stadium.
 
Trailing 29-28 with 1:16 remaining in the game, Mikele Nash answered the call for Langston and returned the ensuing kickoff 90-yards to pay dirt with 1:03 left in the fourth quarter. Following successful PAT try, Langston moved back in front 35-29.
 
Nelson University had one last opportunity, but the Langston Lions held them at bay. On the first play of the final drive, Damien Lowery sacked Pierson Rougeau for nine yards pinning the Lions back to their own 12-yard line. Two plays, facing a fourth-and-five, James Grace sealed the victory with a 12-yard sack on Rougeau with 26 seconds remaining.
 
Torrence Bardell finished the day 14-of-27 for 247 yards with two touchdowns and Kevin Allen hauled in five receptions for 110 yards with one touchdown.
 
Lowery anchored the defensive with nine total tackles, four solo with one sack. Tre Odom picked off two interceptions for 48 yards and Terryn Miles had one interception for 43 yards. Grace finished the day with three tackles, one sack and returned a fumble 58 yards in the second quarter for a touchdown.
 
Langston (2-2, 2-1 SAC) hits the road to face Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday, October 12th. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Goodwell, Okla.
