Langston Outlasts OPSU 17-10 in Battle of the Bell

LANGSTON – Aden Hooper tossed a touchdown and ran for another, leading the Langston University Lions past Oklahoma Panhandle State 17-10 in the Annual Battle of the Bell on Saturday afternoon.

Tied at 10-10 in the fourth quarter, Hooper quickly led the Lions down the field, hitting passes of 25 yards and 24 yards to True Boker and Landon Green to get Langston down to the OPSU five-yard line.
Facing first-and-goal, Hooper barreled his way into endzone for a five-yard touchdown to push Langston back in front 17-10 at the 12:40 mark in the fourth.

The Aggies managed to make their way to the Langston 35-yard line when JP Pelrean picked off Jabari Coleman at the Langston 23-yard line with 5:37 remaining. OPSU never threatened the rest of the way as the Lions improved to 3-7 overall.

Hooper finished the day 27-of-48 for 287 yards with one touchdown and picked up 35 yards on 12 carries. Booker anchored the ground game with 59 yards on 15 carries. Gerald Martin led all receivers with 12 receptions for 106 yards.
