Calvin Miller

Calvin Miller is entering his seventh year with the Lions serving as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Langston University. Previously, he spent five years as the Defensive Line coach at the University of Central Oklahoma.

A former professional player, Miller will be entering his 34th years of coaching at the collegiate level.

Miller started his coaching career at Evangel College in 1979, and then had stints at Langston and Tulsa before returning to Oklahoma State as defensive ends coach in 1991. He then coached at Kentucky from 1995-1997 before returning to Oklahoma State, where he coached the Cowboys until 2002. At Oklahoma State, Miller coached four defensive linemen who were high picks in the NFL Draft: Jamal Williams, Javon Langford, Jason Gildon, Kevin Williams from Oklahoma State and Jermelle Cudjoe from the University of Central Oklahoma.

A native of Gulfport, Miss., Miller was an All-American at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College before arriving at Oklahoma State, where he started for two years, including the 1974 Fiesta Bowl season. His experience as a professional player includes stops with Atlanta and the New York Giants as well as stints with the CFL's Edmonton, Winnipeg and Saskatchewan franchises and the WFL's Birmingham team.

Miller received his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State in 1976 and a master's in athletic administration from Tulsa in 1978. He and his wife, Dee, have three children, Ben, Chris and Chrystal.
