Mike Cannon enters his first season of the Langston University football coaching staff as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. Cannon brings over seven years of coaching experience which includes coaching stops at the NCAA DI and DII levels.

Prior to his arrival at Langston, Cannon served as the offensive line coach at his alma mater Durant Senior High School in Plant City, Fla. where he was instrumental in helping them win their district championship. The first-year coach began his coaching year at Durant Senior High School as the offensive line coach in 2011.

In 2015, Cannon coached at Santa Fe High School and Gainesville High School as the offensive line coach; during his tenure at Santa Fe High School they were able to win their district and regional championships.

At the collegiate level, Cannon coached at NCAA DI Northwestern State in 2014 as the assistant offensive line coach, in 2013 at NCAA DII Valdosta State at the tight end’s coach where they won the Gulf South Conference and in 2012 he served as the tackles and tight end’s coach at NCAA DII Midwestern State.

Cannon hails from the University of New Mexico where he played from 2006-2010. He was recognized as a senior captain in 2010 and was a member of the Mountain West Conference All-Academic team. Cannon continued his playing career overseas for the Kragujevacs Wild Boards out of Kragujevacs, Serbia where he was named the Super League-Import of the Year in 2012.

He currently holds a Bachelor’s of Arts and Science in Criminology from the University of New Mexico.
