Quinton Morgan

Quinton Morgan embarks on this fifth year leading the Langston Lions football program after being promoted to head football coach in December 2015 following nine years serving in various capacities on the football staff.

In his third second at the helm he lead the Lions to a 9-2 mark, clinching the first-ever Sooner Athletic Conference title and receiving a second straight automatic postseason berth in the NAIAFootball Championship Series first round. It was Langston’s eighth postseason appearance during their time in the NAIA and second consecutive playoff trip.

Under Morgan’s leadership the Lions finished the season with one selection to the AFCA and Associated Press All-American teams, two selections to the NAIA Football All-America team and 21 selections on the All-SAC team including a league high eight All-SAC first-team selections.

During the 2017 campaign, Morgan led the Lions to a perfect 10-0 regular season, clinched the Central States Football League conference title and received an automatic postseason berth in the NAIA Football Championship Series first round. It was Langston’s seventh postseason appearance during their time in the NAIA and first playoff trip since 2014.

Under Morgan’s leadership the Lions finished the season with one selection to the AFCA and Associated Press All-American teams and 39 selections on the All-CSFL team including five first-team selections and the CSFL Coach of Year award. Additionally, Morgan was selected as the All-OSN Coach of the Year and defensive coordinator Calvin Miller was named the Merv Johnson Integrity in College Coaching Award Recipient. Morgan along with the Langston Lions football team were also selected as finalists in the Male Coach of the Year and Team of the Year categories respectively for the 2018 HBCU Awards.

Prior to his appointment as head coach, Morgan served as the defensive backs coach in 2015. The campaign marked his ninth year coaching at his alma mater.

Morgan played defensive back, wide receiver, and running back for Langston during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Before transferring to LU, he played at Jackson State from 2003-2004. He played high school football at Bonnabel High School in New Orleans, La. He played four seasons of professional football, three of those years with the San Angelo Stampede Express in the IFL Arena League and one season with the AF2 Iowa Barnstormers.

He received his Bachelors of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Langston University in 2007. He obtained his Master of Arts degree in Urban Education.
