BATESVILLE, Ark. – For the second time this season the Langston Lions managed to shutout their opponent, this time the Lions tamed the Lyon College Scots 30-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions drew first blood in the first quarter following a 36-yard field goal from
Hunter Elliott. The lone field goal turned out to be the only score Langston needed as the Lions continue to showcase their defense prowess. Statistically, the Lions are ranked number one in the NAIA in five defensive categories (points per game, points allowed, yards per game, passing yards per game and rushing yards per game).
Ger'Kerry Jackson tacked on a three-yard touchdown before halftime to push their advantage to 9-0.
Langston widened their margin in the third quarter following a second rushing touchdown from Jackson. The Lions picked up two passing touchdowns, one from
Larry Harrington and one from
RaQuon Washington, in the fourth quarter to cement their 30-0 victory.
Jackson anchored the ground game with 76 yards on 16 carries with two scores.
Larry Harrington finished nine-of-13 for 94 yards with one touchdown and one interception and
Trevon Billington racked up seven receptions for 91 yards with one touchdown.
Malcolm led Langston in total tackles with 12 and one pass break up and
Devin Dourisseau finished with seven tackles.
Isaiah Smith and
Dorian Williams both managed to snag one interception apiece.
The Lions (5-0, 4-0 SAC) host Texas Wesleyan in a homecoming showdown on Saturday, October 16th. Game time is set for 2 p.m. The last time the Langston Lions have started 5-0 under head coach
Quinton Morgan the Lions went undefeated in the regular season and clinched a berth in the NAIA playoffs.
