Langston Lions Hold Off OUAZ 44-41

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Larry Harrington threw four touchdowns and ran for 84 yards, leading the No. 18 Langston Lions past No. 9 Ottawa-Arizona on Saturday night.

Langston (7-0, 6-0 SAC) trailed 10-0 at the conclusion of the first quarter but rallied to outscore the Spirit 28-10 in the second quarter to take a 28-20 halftime advantage.

OUAZ mounted a comeback, trimming the lead to one point following an eight-yard touchdown run by Marcelous Chester-Riley at the 13:14 mark in the third quarter. The Lions countered with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Harrington to Jalen Hollins and a 32-yard field goal by Hunter Elliott, pushing their margin to 10 points.

Leading by three, Ger'Kerry Jackson pushed the Lions back up by 10 with an 11-yard touchdown at the 3:50 mark in the fourth quarter. The Spirit managed to score one more touchdown at the 2:09 mark but it was too little, too late as the Lions sit atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings at 6-0 with three conference games remaining.

Harrington finished 14-of-26 for 296 yards with four touchdowns. Jackson anchored the ground attack, tallying 238 yards on 34 carries with two touchdowns. Jalen Hollins posted a career-high 121 receiving yards on four receptions with one touchdown.

Malcolm Johnson led the Lions with 11 solo tackles and four assisted tackles; Devin Dourisseau finished with six solo tackles and five assisted tackles. Dorian Williams and Isaiah Smith both managed to snag one interception apiece.

Langston (7-0, 6-0 SAC) travels to face Louisiana College on Saturday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
