Alexander, Langston Prevail Over Golden Eagles

LANGSTON – Asheika Alexander drilled a three-pointer as time expired to propel the Langston Lady Lions passed the John Brown Golden Eagles 72-71 on Thursday night to open conference play.

Tied at 69-69, John Brown's Tarrah Stephens pushed the Golden Eagles in front 71-69 with 1.2 seconds remaining, setting up the potential game winning possession. On the ensuing in-bounds play, Taliyah Harris found Alexander who managed to knock in the game winning three-pointer as time expired.

Alexander finished the night with 28 points on 11-of-24 shooting with nine rebounds. Alanna Spencer finished second on the team in scoring with 12 points and Talia Edwards picked up a team-high 12 rebounds on the night.

Langston (6-1, 1-0 SAC) travels to face Oklahoma City University on Saturday, Nov. 20. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
