Lady Lions Outlast Southwestern Christian 70-66

LANGSTON – Timely free throws and solid defense proved vital for the Langston Lady Lions as they outlasted Southwestern Christian 70-66 on Saturday at C.F. Gayles Field House.

Tied at 66-66, Langston's Ayasha Thomas drove in for a quick layup to pull the Lady Lions in front with 24 seconds remaining. On the ensuing possession, the Langston defense stood tall when Anyia Pride stuffed a game-tying attempt by Southwestern Christian's Jaden Mason.

Thomas corralled the rebound which led to back-to-back free throws from Koreea Kirksey to put Langston up for good 70-66. The Lady Lions now improve to 6-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Pride led all scorers with 24 points, Kameron Shelley added 16 and Thomas chipped in 10 to round the double-digit scorers.

Langston (6-2, 1-1 SAC) returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at home. The Lady Lions will host Central Christian at 6 p.m.
