LANGSTON –
Asheika Alexander scored 26 points and led the Langston University Lady Lions past Texas Wesleyan 71-61 on Monday night inside the C.F. Gayles Field House.
Tied at 16-16 at the conclusion of the first quarter, the Lady Lions outscored the Rams in every subsequent quarter 17-13, 21-19 and 17-13 en route to the 71-61 victory.
The Lady Lions improve to 16-8 overall and 11-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Alexander finished nine-of-19 from the field and hit eight-of-10 free throws.
Adia Rogers finished with 13 points and Elan Wali chipped in 11. Collectively, the Lady Lions hit 40 percent (24-of-59) overall and combined to hit 22-of-29 free throws.
Langston (16-8, 11-7 SAC) travels to face Southwestern Assemblies of God on Thursday, Feb. 10. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in Waxahachie, Texas.
