No. 3 Langston Holds Off Oklahoma City 72-67

EDMOND, Okla. – The No. 3 Langston University Lions pushed their win streak to four games by knocking off Oklahoma City University 72-67 on Thursday night.

Despite suiting up a depleted roster, the Lions never wavered. Leading 64-63 with 2:04 remaining, the Lions collected back-to-back free throws from Cortez Mosley. The Langston defense held the Stars in check the rest of the way and the Lions picked up two additional free throws from G'Quavious Lennox and two more from Mosley, pushing their advantage to 70-63 with 23 seconds remaining.

AJ Rainey led Langston in scoring with 19 points, Tristan Harper finished with 18 and Mosley tallied 16. Collectively, the Lions hit 41 percent (22-of-53) on the night and converted on 23-of-30 free throw attempts.

Langston improves to 20-1 on the season and sit atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings at 14-1. The Lions hit the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2018-19 season. Head coach Chris Wright tallied his eighth season in his career of at least 20 wins in a season and sixth straight season as head coach with at least 20 wins.

Langston (20-1, 14-1 SAC) hosts John Brown University at home on Saturday, Jan. 28. Game time is set for 3:45 p.m. at C.F. Gayles Field House.
