Lady Lions Knock Off Ave Maria 81-72

LANGSTON – The Langston University Lady Lions continued their winning ways, holding off Ave Maria 81-72 on Thursday evening at C.F. Gayles Field House.

The Lady Lions led 23-17 at the end of the first quarter and used a pivotal 22-13 third quarter to seize control and lead 64-52 entering the final quarter.

Langston led by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter to seal the 81-72 victory. The Lady Lions start the season 4-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.

Hailey Jordan led Langston in scoring with 19 points in 27 minutes of action. Kamesha Moore and Shae Routt both tallied 13, Kameron Shelley added 11 and Koreea Kirksey added 10.

Brittany Rivera tallied double digits in rebounds with 10. Collectively, the Lady Lions hit 42 percent (29-of-69) from the field and knocked down 19-of-24 free throw attempts.

Langston (4-0) hits the road to face Colorado Christian University in Pueblo, Colo. in an exhibition matchup. The Lady Lions tipoff at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 17th.
