Women's Basketball Outlasts Trailblazers 65-59

LANGSTON – Three players scored in double figures as the Langston University Lady Lions outlasted the University of North Texas at Dallas Trailblazers 65-59 on Thursday evening at C.F. Gayles Field House.

The Lady Lions entered the fourth quarter trailing 43-30 but roared back to life, outscoring the Trailblazers 25-16 in the final frame to pick up their 15th win on the season. The victory keeps the Lady Lions firmly in place to receive a spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament which begins on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Ayasha Thomas led Langston in scoring with 17 points on the night. Anyia Pride tallied 13 and Hailey Jordan finished with 10 points in the victory.

Collectively, the Lady Lions hit 37 percent (21-of-56) from the field and managed to convert on 19-of-28 free throw attempts.

Langston (15-12, 10-11 SAC) closes out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 18 at home. The Lady Lions host Southwestern Assemblies of God at 2 p.m. Langston previously defeated the SAGU Lions 99-58 on January 12th in Waxahachie, Texas.
