Langston University 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame Class Announced

LANGSTON, Okla. – The Langston University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce this year's inductees into the Langston University Athletic Hall of Fame. Potential candidates were submitted and reviewed by a panel that includes current Langston University faculty and staff and former Langston University alumni, faculty, and staff.

Inductees listed below are in alphabetical order. 

LaMar Allison – Men's Basketball

LaMar Allison attended Langston University from 1994-1998 where he played for the Langston Lions men's basketball team. Allison was a three-time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American (1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98), three-time OIC All-Conference first team selection (1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98) and the 1997-98 OIC Co-Player of the Year.

At the conclusion of his playing career, Allison held the men's basketball records in three-pointers made and three-point attempts. He was also second in scoring, third in steals, fourth in assists and tenth in rebounds.

Eric Harris, Sr. – Men's Basketball

Eric Harris, Sr. attended Langston University from 1987-1989 where he played the Langston Lions men's basketball team. During his time suiting up for the Lions, Harris, Sr. was a two-time NAIA All-American (1987-88, 1988-89) and was named to the 1987-88 All-District 9 second team and the 1988-89 All-District 9 First Team. He is the first men's basketball player from Langston University to be named to the NAIA All-American first team.

Harris, Sr. finished with career marks of 1,234 career points, 330 career rebounds, 186 career assists and 152 career steals and an 81.2 percent career free throw percentage.

Mario McCottrell – Track and Field

Mario McCottrell attended Langston University and is a five-time NAIA Track and Field All-American and three-time NAIA Indoor National Champion in the men's 600-meters. He holds the school record in the 600 meters at 1:18.62 and 600 yard 1:10.60. McCottrell is also on the outdoor school record 4x400 meter relay team that ran 3:08.67 finishing second nationally. Additionally, McCottrell was the 2009 RRAC (Red River Athletic Conference) Champion in the 400m, 800m and 4x400m relay.

He holds Langston's top three 800-meter times and is currently fourth on Langston's 400-meter list. McCottrell graduated from Langston University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling.

Brandee' Means – Track and Field

Brandee' Means attended Langston University from 2005-2009 and is an eight-time NAIA Track and Field All-American and holds the school record in the Indoor and Outdoor 400-meters, the Indoor 600-yard and 600-meters. Means was Langston University's first female individual National Champion (600 meters) in any sport.

She holds seven of the top-10 times in the women's 400-meters and is a member of the school record women's 4X400 meter relay team (3:45.63) and is a member of six of the top-10 women's 4X400 meter relay teams. Additionally, Means is in the top-10 in the 200-meters (24.59) and a member of the school record Sprint Medley relay team (100, 100, 200, 400) 1:44.77.

William Moses – Track and Field

William Moses attended Langston University from 2007-2010 and is a six-time NAIA Track and Field All-American and three-time NAIA National Champion in the outdoor high jump (2009) and outdoor high jump (2007, 2009). He currently holds the school records in the high jump with mark of 7'-0 1/4', 2.14m (Indoor) and 7'-1', 2.16m (Outdoor).

Moses is also a three-time Red River Athletic Conference champion in the high jump (2007, 2008, 2009). Additionally, he's also nationally qualified three times in the long jump during the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Carlos Ross – Football

Carlos Ross attended Langston University from 2008-2011 and was a member of the Langston Lions football team. Ross concluded his playing career holding several Langston University football records including career rushing yards (3,590), rushing attempts (662), career rushing touchdowns (30), career all-purpose yards (5,273) and career all-purpose touchdowns (40).

Ross was named to the Central States All-Conference team four times (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) and was a two-time NAIA All-American selection (2009, 2011).

Floyd Wilson – Men's Basketball

Floyd Wilson attended Langston University from 1987-1990 and was a member of the Langston Lions men's basketball team. Wilson concluded his playing career holding several Langston University men's basketball recordings including career points (1,879), single season scoring average (27.2), three-pointers made (154) and three-pointers attempted (416).

Additionally, he finished with 439 career rebounds, 103 career steals and 151 career assists. Wilson was named NAIA All-American second team (1989-1990), NAIA All-American honorable mention (1988-1989), All-District 9 First Team (1989-1990) and All-District 9 Second Team (1988-1989) for his efforts.

The Langston University Athletic Hall of Fame has been created to honor and recognize those individuals involved with Langton University's Department of Athletics who distinguished themselves through outstanding achievement in intercollegiate competition and personal endeavors. The Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, former coaches, athletic department personnel, alumni, teams, coaches and/or sports professionals who through leadership and character have made exceptional contributions to the honor and prestige of Langston University in the field of athletics as well as those who have rendered extraordinary service, leadership and/or support contributing directly to the success of student-athletes within the Langston University Department of Athletics. 
 
These awards are presented to individuals who have continued to demonstrate in their daily lives the values imparted through intercollegiate athletics.  A minimum of five years must have passed since their last collegiate competition.
