Langston Knocks Off SAGU 45-21

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Torrence Bardell passed for 231 yards and accounted for five touchdowns as the Langston Lions rolled their way to a 45-21 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday afternoon.

Bardell finished the day 13-of-25 with three touchowns and picked up 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Lions improved to 6-3 historically versus Southwestern Assemblies of God.

SAGU led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter but the Lions went to work in the second quarter. Bardell hit Kevin Allen, Jr. for a 39-yard touchdown pass at the 13:16 mark and Ivory Wilright IV for an 11-yard strike at the 11:16 mark in the second quarter to lead 17-7 at halftime.

Levon Williams hauled in a 48-yard touchdown pass to send Langston into the fourth quarter in front 24-13.

In the final frame, Bardell tallied two touchdown runs of 80 and 38 yards and Tyler Travis turned in a six-yard touchdown in the 45-21 victory. Langston improves to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the SAC.

Allen, Jr. led the aerial attack with 97 yards on three receptions with one touchdown. Darrin Finley and Damien Lowery led Langston on defense with seven tackles apiece and three Lions (Malcom Johnson, John Goree, Travis Martin) all picked up interceptions.
