Langston Holds Off Wayland Baptist 21-20

LANGSTON – A late defensive stand propelled the Langston Lions past Wayland Baptist 21-20 as the Lions closed out senior day with a victory.
 
Following a 71-yard touchdown pass from Bryan Ponder to Jasiah Barron, Wayland Baptist opted for a two-point conversion trailing the Lions 21-20. On a quarterback roll out, Ponder hit Barron at the three-yard line but Barron was denied by a host of Lions at the one-yard line to nullify the two-point attempt.
 
The Lions recovered the onside kick and managed to run out the clock, sealing the 21-20 victory and wrapping up the 2024 campaign at 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Saturday's win marks the eighth winning season under head coach Quinton Morgan.
 
Torrence Bardell finished 21-of-41 for 303 passing yards with one touchdown. Tyler Travis added 76 yards with one touchdown on 11 carries and Kevin Allen led the aerial attack with nine receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown.
 
Armonnie Wise led Langston in tackles with six total and 2.5 tackles for loss.
