No. 1 Langston Dominates Southwestern Christian 69-44

LANGSTON - The No. 1 ranked Langston University Lions returned to C.F. Gayles Field House in dominant fashion, defeating Southwestern Christian 69-44 on Monday night.

The Lions set the tone early, with Mike Peake sinking a 3-pointer to score the game's opening points.

At the buzzer, Amoro Lado hit a 3-pointer to push the lead to 37-20 at halftime.

To start the second half, the Lions went on a 5-0 run, pushing the score to 42-20. In the final minute of the game, Cameron McCoy scored a two-point bucket, capping the Lion's 26-point win over the Eagles.

Lado led the Lions in scoring with 14 points, shooting 5-11 from the field with 12 of those points coming from beyond the arc. The Lions second-leading scorer Tim Ighoefe, finished with 12 points, six rebounds, three steals, and one block.

After the win, head men's basketball coach Chris Wright noted how the team's performance against Southwestern Christian, showed some resemblance of the dominance displayed by last year's Lions squad.

"This looks a lot more like Langston basketball. We're not where we need to be, but to hold a conference team to 44 points, 33% from the field, to dominate the paint how we did, and dominate the glass… this looks more like it," Wright said.

Langston improves to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The Lions (5-1, 2-1 SAC) will return to the historic C.F. Gayles Fieldhouse Nov. 26 to face off against Mid-America Christian University (MACU) at 8 p.m.
