Lady Lions Roll Past John Brown University 58-39

LANGSTON – Three players scored in double figures as the Langston University Lady Lions knocked off John Brown University 58-39 on Saturday at the historic C.F. Gayles Field House.
 
The Lady Lions led 17-10 at the conclusion of the first quarter and widened the gap in the second, outscoring the Golden Eagles 17-6 to lead 34-16 at halftime. Langston led by as many as 24 points in the second half as they improved to 12-1 on the season and 8-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions are off to their best start since the 2014-15 season when Langston finished the season 28-4 overall.
 
Saturday's win over John Brown University snapped a six-game losing streak to the Golden Eagles. The last time Langston defeated JBU took place on November 18, 2021, when the Lady Lions outlasted JBU 72-71.
 
Mikayla Woods led Langston in scoring with 17 points and nine rebounds; Jordan Brown added 16 and Ruth Sodipe finished with 11.
 
Langston (12-1, 8-1 SAC) returns to the court at home on Saturday, January 4th. The Lady Lions host Central Christian at 2 p.m.
