Men's Basketball Prevails Over Nelson University 64-63

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Joshua Smith's bucket as time expired sealed the victory for the No. 11 Langston Lions in a 64-63 victory on Saturday night.
 
Trailing 63-62 with 13.2 seconds remaining, Smith's initial layup attempt was blocked into the hands of Mario McKinney whose field goal attempt pinballed off the glass back into Smith's hands.
 
Smith corralled the rebound with one second left and immediately scored as time expired, clinching the 64-63 victory for the Lions. With the victory the Lions improve to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
 
Bryce Monroe led Langston in scoring with 20 points on 10-of-21 shooting; Saturday's game marked the third straight 20-point game for Monroe. Smith posted a season-high 18 points on nine-of-14 shooting and Jamison Epps tallied a season-high 13 rebounds on the night.
 
Langston (8-2, 5-2 SAC) returns to action on Thursday, December 12th at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
