USAO Holds Off Lady Lions in Doubleheader

LANGSTON – The Langston Lady Lions returned to the mound to face the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers falling short 9-0 and 10-2 to the Drovers on Saturday, April 13 at T.G. Green Park.

In the opener, USAO's Sophie Williams halted Langston while pitching a perfect game in a 9-0 victory. Williams tallied five innings with 12 strikeouts.

In the finale, the Lady Lions battled but ultimately fell 10-2 to move to 8-30 overall on the season.

USAO led 3-0 entering the bottom of the third inning when Tandy Garrett hit a two-run homerun to trim the Drovers lead to 3-2. The Lady Lions were never able to bridge the gap the rest of the way, leading a total of seven runners of base.

Garrett pitched six innings, allowing eight runs on 14 hits with one strikeout. Serena Sanchez closed the game with one innings, allowing two runs on three hits.

Langston (8-30, 4-24 SAC) hits the road to face Mid-America Christian on Friday, April in a doubleheader slated to begin at 2 p.m.
