Langston Prevails 35-25 over Texas College

LANGSTON – Torrence Bardell tossed three touchdowns, leading the Langston Lions to their first victory of the season in a 35-25 win over Texas College at W.E. Anderson Stadium.

The Lions roared out to an early lead after Bardell hit Tyler Travis for a 30-yard touchdown strike, putting Langston in front 7-0 in the first quarter. Travis hauled in one more touchdown, this time a 37-yard touchdown pass from Bardell to push Langston's advantage to 14-0.

The Steers countered with two touchdown passes from Kendrick Connelly, trimming the Lions lead to 14-12 at the 11:33 mark in the second quarter.

Bershard Glaspie sparked a 21-0 scoring run for Langston after he picked off Connelly and returned the interception 25 yards for a touchdown.
 
Langston tacked on two more touchdowns to close out the second quarter with Travis scoring on a four-yard run at the 8:29 mark and Gerald Martin scoring off a 25-yard strike from Bardell.

The Lions improve to 1-2 overall on the season and 1-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Bardell finished the day with 213 passing yards on 16-of-27 passes and picked up 37 yards on the ground. Travis finished with 28 yards on eight carries and hauled in three receptions for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Khylan Moseley, Mikele Nash and James Grace tied for the team lead in tackles with six apiece. Grace tallied 1.5 tackles for loss, half a sack and returned a fumble for 44 yards on the day.

Langston (1-2, 1-1 SAC) is back in action on Saturday, October 5th versus Nelson University at W.E. Anderson Stadium. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
