No. 4 Lions Knock Off Eagles 86-74

LANGSTON – Five players scored in double figures as the No. 4 Langston Lions used a second-half surge to move past Texas A&M-Texarkana 86-74 on Friday night at C.F. Gayles Field House.

Both squads came out firing in the first half with the Eagles hitting 50 percent (12-of-24) and connecting on 14-of-18 free throw attempts. On the flipside the Lions knocked down 60 percent (14-of-23) and went 11-of-12 from the charity stripe while building a 44-40 halftime lead.

Langston led 57-54 at the 11:14 mark in the second half and used a pivotal 15-3 scoring run to turn the tide, surging ahead 72-57 at the six-minute mark. The Eagles never threatened the rest of the way as the Lions improved to 3-1 on the season.

Omar Henry led the way with 18 points on six-of-eight shooting with seven boards. Orlando Thomas added 16, Marcedus Leech and Jay Wilson both tallied 14 points apiece and Treshawn Cody added 10 on the night.

Collectively, Langston shot 56 percent (27-of-48) overall and finished 26-of-32 from the free throw line.

Lions (3-1) host Tabor College on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at home. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
