No. 18 Langston Knocks Off Nelson Lions 70-61

LANGSTON – Three players scored in double figures as the No. 18 Langston Lions returned to the win column, defeating Nelson University 70-61 on Saturday evening at C.F. Gayles Field House. 
 
The Lions trailed 59-58 when Jamison Epps knocked down a three-pointer to pull Langston in front 61-59. The three-pointer kick started a 9-0 scoring run which included six points from Bryce Monroe, putting Langston ahead 66-59 with 33 seconds left. Nelson University cut the deficit to six but could not turn the tide as Langston improved to 18-6 overall and 14-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference with the 70-61 win.
 
Monroe led the way with 23 points, Darrius Hughes added 16 and Kamron Brice pumped in 15 for the Lions. Mario McKinney patrolled the boards, nabbing 12 rebounds on the night. 
 
Langston (18-6, 14-6 SAC) travels to face Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday, Feb. 10. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
