Lions Conclude Season in NAIA National Tournament Round of 16

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three players scored in double figures, but the No. 4 seed Langston University Lions fell short to No. 1 seed College of Idaho 95-65 in the 87th Annual Men's Basketball National Championship Round of 16. The Lions conclude their season at 26-8.

The College of Idaho Yotes came out firing in the first half, shooting 63 percent (19-of-30) overall including an eight-of-15 mark from three-point range to build a 51-36 halftime lead. The momentum carried over into the second half as the Lions ultimately fell 95-65.

Mario McKinney tallied a season-high 26 points on the night. Jamison Epps added 14 points, and 15 boards and Joshua Smith chipped in 10.

In his third season at the helm, head coach Chris Wright has led the Lions to three straight NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Round of 16 appearances, three straight seasons of 26 wins or more and holds a 92-13 mark in his tenure at Langston.

Additionally, the Lions had three players selected to the All-SAC conference teams in Bryce Monroe, Smith and McKinney.
