Langston University Announces NIL Matching Gift Challenge

LANGSTON - The Langston University Department of Athletics, in conjunction with an exclusive NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) partner and LU alumnus, is excited to announce the Langston NIL Matching Gift Challenge. This initiative officially launches today and will continue through July 30, 2025 — or until our $25,000 goal is met.

Sherman Lewis, a Langston University Alumnus has pledged $25,000 to support Langston University student-athletes — and if supporters, alumni, and fans match that amount, Mr. Lewis will contribute an additional $25,000. This means your gift will be doubled, helping us raise $75,000 or more for NIL opportunities for our student-athletes!

Make an Impact: Most Langston sports programs do not currently meet the NAIA scholarship maximums. Your support will allow student-athletes to:
  • Pay off their school bills,
  • Cover essential living expenses,
  • Continue making an impact on our campus and in the town of Langston.
A Unique Approach: Unlike most universities, Langston's NIL program is rooted in service. Before receiving NIL funds, student-athletes will complete volunteer hours within our campus and local community. After submitting proof of completed hours, they will become eligible to receive standardized NIL compensation.

Secure and Tax Deductible: Thanks to NAIA guidelines, all gifts earmarked for Langston University NIL are 100% tax deductible. Donations will be managed by Opendorse, ensuring that funds are disbursed responsibly, and that athletes have all the necessary tax documentation.
