KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The newest edition of the NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 features stability in the top three spots and major movement throughout the middle of the poll, as teams across the country battle for position as the regular season starts winding down.
Dordt remains the unanimous No. 1 for the second straight ranking, holding firm with 15 first-place votes, while Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) stays close behind at No. 2 with four first-place nods of its own. Bethel (Tenn.) rounds out a steady top three, but the week's biggest climbs come from Marian (Ind.), Dakota State (S.D.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), all of whom rise after impressive stretches of play. Meanwhile, Campbellsville (Ky.) and Saint Francis (Ind.) slide slightly, making room for surging programs like Loyola (La.), Langston (Okla.) and Carroll (Mont.) to make their way into the poll.Â
The Langston University women's basketball team entered the sixth edition of the NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll ranked 20th with 134 points. The Lady Lions are currently 22-2 overall and 16-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. They are the highest rated team in the SAC and return to action on Thursday, Feb. 12 at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.
Poll Methodology
- The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
- A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
- The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system:
                o  30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
- The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
- Teams receiving only one point are not listed as "receiving votes."
- For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.Â
