Dametrius Walker begins his first season as an assistant coach at Langston after serving as Interim Head Coach and Associate Head Coach for 2 seasons under Head Coach Ryan Miley. Walker started as a Graduate Assistant at Newman University before beginning two stints as the top assistant of various programs. One being the Fort Scott Greyhounds in KJCCC during the 2020-22 seasons, later returning to Ohio at Hocking College, as an Associate Head Coach (2022 to 2024) in Nelsonville ,OH.
During his time with Ryan Miley and as active Head Coach, Walker helped coach two JUCO All-Americans and multiple OCCAC All-Conference players along with coaching the program's first ever Division 1 signee.in program. Walker also helped Hocking to its first ever trip to the NJCAA National Tournament, as they were crowned Region 12 tournament champs during the 2023-24 campaign. The Hawks won 2 OCCAC Conference titles with an overall record of 78-18.
Walker began his coaching career with two seasons as a top assistant at KJCCC Fort Scott Community College 2020-2022 (Alma mater), helping the 2020-2021 Greyhounds cap a historical season as they were Conference Co-Champions, and ranked high as 11th nationally.
Walker earned a bachelor's degree in Arts and Humanity from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas where he played his final two collegiate seasons. As a senior he helped his team to a 20-9 overall record and grabbed All-Conference honors. He also played two years at Fort Scott Community College.
