Steve Alexander joins the staff at Langston University as the Director of Player Development. He comes to the LU as one of the most decorated high school coaches in the State of Oklahoma, serving as The Head Coach at Douglass High School since 2022. Alexander has compiled an 89-21 record along with back-to-back 4A State Championships in 2023 and 2024. He has received a plethora of coaching honors including two-time 4A Coach of the Year recipient (2023,2023), Gatorade Coach of the Year (2023), Super 5 Coach of the Year (2023) and Conference Coach of the Year (2025).
Prior to his position at Douglass High School, Alexander served as an assistant coach at Heritage Hall High School for four seasons. The program appeared in the state tournament in all four seasons and won a state championship in 2018.
Before a successful career playing professionally in both Mexico and the ABA, he was a stand-out player at Langston University. Alexander helped the Lions win a conference championship and was named 1st Team All-Conference and Newcomer of the Year. He is also the founder, coach, and trainer of Alexander Elite Training LLC.
