Lady Lions Surge by Oklahoma City 84-75

Asheika Alexander Surpasses 1,000 Career Points in her Langston Career

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Four players scored in double digits for the Langston University Lady Lions as they defeated Oklahoma City University 84-75 inside Abe Lemons Arena.

Tied at 63-63 at the 7:26 mark in the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions picked up two layups from Asheika Alexander and two free throws from Taliyah Harris to push Langston in front 69-63 with 4:54 remaining. OCU cut the deficit to two points at 69-67 but the Lady Lions remained in control, responding with a 12-2 scoring run to widen their advantage to 81-69 late in the fourth quarter.

The 84-75 victory over Oklahoma City University marks the first time Langston has defeated OCU since the 2015-16 season when the Lady Lions won 85-48. Langston moves to 7-1 overall on the season which is their best start through eight games since the 2014-15 season when the Lady Lions started 8-0 through eight games.

Asheika Alexander led Langston in scoring with 22 points on the night. The graduate forward also managed to surpass 1,000 career points in her Langston University career. The last Lady Lion to achieve the 1,000-career points mark was Cher 'Ron Lewis during the 2016-17 season.

Talia Edwards registered a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. Harris also finished with 19 and Jaliyah Sampson added 12 on the afternoon.

Langston (7-1, 2-0 SAC) travels to face Central Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in McPherson, Kan.
