LANGSTON – RaQuon Washington posted a season-high four touchdowns, pushing the Langston Lions by Texas College 44-6 in the Lions' conference home opener Saturday night at W.E. Anderson Stadium.
Washington tallied two first quarter passing touchdowns, the first a 19-yarder to Bryon Hanspard and the second a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Allen, to give the Lions the early 14-0 advantage.
The Lions never took their foot off the gas.
Eman McNeal hauled in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Washington and Hunter Elliott tacked on a 31-yard field goal to put Langston in control 24-0 at halftime.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Tahj Davidson opened the fourth with a four-yard touchdown run to make it 30-0. The Lions defense also got in the scoring action after Mydre Strother returned a fumble to the endzone at the 12:23 mark in the fourth.
Texas College's lone score came after Keith Delahoussaye returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown.
Washington tacked on one final score on a 17-yard touchdown run to make it 44-6. The southpaw quarterback finished nine-of-18 for 86 yards, three touchdowns and picked up one score on the ground.
Hanspard led all receivers with three receptions for 44 yards. Ger'Kerry Jackson anchored the ground game with 77 yards on 16 attempts.
Devin Dourisseau tallied five total tackles, forced one fumble, and recovered two fumbles to lead Langston.
Langston (2-0, 2-0 SAC) travels to Wayland Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
