Langston Football Knocks Off Aggies 10-7 to Open Season

GOODWELL, Okla. – A defensive battle paved the way for the Langston University Lions to defeat Oklahoma Panhandle State 10-7 in their season opener and annual Battle of Bell matchup.

The Aggies led early into the second quarter after OPSU's Jamalrian Jones scored on a one-yard touchdown score. Langston countered with a six-play, 21-yard drive and trimmed the lead to 7-3 following a Hunter Elliott 24-yard field goal.

On the following offensive possession, Langston overtook the lead when quarterback Larry Harrington scored on a 18-yard run to make it 10-7 at the 1:39 mark in the second quarter.

Neither team scored the rest of the way as the Lions moved to 1-0 on the season and 5-1 historically under head coach Quinton Morgan in season opening matchups.

Harrington finished 15-of-27 for 130 yards and picked up 90 yards, one touchdown on 21 carries.

Defensively, Devin Dourisseau led the way with six tackles and Khylan Moseley logged five tackles.

Langston (1-0, 1-0 SAC) hosts Texas College next Saturday, Sept. 11. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
