Men's Basketball Prevails Over NAU 67-65

LANGSTON – A second half surge propelled the Langston University Lions by North American University by a final count of 67-65 inside the C.F. Gayles Field House on Monday night.

Knotted up at 65-65, Aren Thomas managed to draw contact with two seconds remaining, giving Langston the late opportunity to move in front. Thomas nailed both free throw attempts and the Stallion's three-point heave from midcourt fell short to seal the 67-65 victory for Langston.

The Lions trailed by as many as 10 points with under four minutes to play but methodically whittled away to within striking distance. Trailing 65-59, Thomas pulled Langston within two with 39 seconds remaining after a three-point bomb. On the ensuing possession, Langston's LaCorian Ballard tied it at 65-65 with 27 seconds left after converting a turnover.

Thomas finished the day with 19 points, Ballard added 18 and Naythan Shaw-Clark chipped in 17.

Langston (1-14, 0-10 SAC) hosts Southwestern Christian on Thursday, Jan. 13. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
