No. 7 Langston Holds Off Owls, Remain Perfect

Langston improves to 13-0 overall and now has the best start to a season dating back to the 2004-05 season.

FULTON, Mo. – The No. 7 Langston University Lions wrapped up a perfect Fall 2022 semester by knocking off William Woods 70-58 on Monday afternoon to remain undefeated.

The Lions once again started out strong, shooting 57 percent (13-of-23) from the field while building a 37-28 halftime advantage. The Owls pulled with three at the 16:14 mark in the second when Langston answered with a 16-3 scoring run to surge in front 58-41 with 9:54 remaining.

The Owls never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

AJ Rainey led all scorers with 18 points, Toru Dean added 12, Tristan Harper finished with 11 and D'Monte Brown chipped in 10 points.

Langston improves to 13-0 overall and now has the best start to a season dating back to the 2004-05 season. The Lions tallied their 12th win of the season by double-digits.

No. 7 Langston (13-0) has concluded their portion of the 2022 schedule. The Lions return to action at home on January 5, 2023, versus the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
