No Home Court, No Problem for No. 7 Langston

Langston improves to 14-0 overall and is off to the best start to a season dating back to the 2004-05 season.

EDMOND – The No. 7 Langston University Lions picked up right where they left off, defeating the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 95-86 on Thursday night at Hamilton Field House on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Despite being temporarily relocated, the Lions never wavered and pushed their winning streak to 14 straight games. Langston led 44-42 at halftime and led by as many as 14 points in the second half and picked up their first win over USAO since the 2019-20 season.

Toru Dean led all scorers with 21 points on the night. AJ Rainey finished right behind him with 20 points, Cortez Mosley added 19, James Ellis chipped in 11 and Tristan Harper rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Collectively, the Lions hit 47 percent (33-of-69) on the night and finished 19-of-23 from the free throw line. Langston outscored the Drovers 16-12 in second chance points and 44-24 on points in the paint.

No. 7 Langston (14-0, 8-0 SAC) hosts Texas Wesleyan at Hamilton Field House in Edmond, Okla. on Saturday, January 7th. Game time is set for 3:45 p.m.
