Lady Lions Split at Southwestern College

WINFIELD, Kan. – The Langston Lady Lions managed a split with the Southwestern Moundbuilders on Saturday afternoon at the Broadway Sports Complex.

Langston controlled the opener most of the way, building an early 2-0 advantage after Midori Williams and Brysen Bartley hit an RBI double and RBI single respectively. Madison Slater tacked on an RBI single to bring home Aubrea Hall in the third to push their advantage to 3-0.

The Lady Lions widened their lead in the fifth, picking up four runs to soar in front 7-0. The Moundbuilders tallied two runs in the fifth, one run in the sixth and one run in the seventh to fall short to Langston 7-4.

McKenzie Connor picked up her second win of the season, tossing a complete game and allowed three runs on 11 hits on the day. Hall finished one-for-three with two runs scored and Williams finished two-for-three with one RBI and one run scored.

The Moundbuilders countered in game two, tallying nine runs on 13 hits to defeat the Lady Lions 9-1 in five innings.

 Slater finished one-for-two and had the lone RBI in the first inning that scored Lillian Harjo.

Langston (3-1) hosts Bethel College on Tuesday, Feb. 15. in a doubleheader slated to begin at 1 p.m.
