Lady Lions Roar Past Tigers, Advance to SAC Quarterfinals

LANGSTON – Five players scored in double figures as the Langston University Lady Lions roared to an opening round victory in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament 102-59 over Central Christian.

In the lopsided affair, the Lady Lions never trailed and managed to outscore Central Christian in points off turnovers (18-to-4), second chance points (22-to-2), bench points (49-to-0) and points in the paint (64-to-32).

Jadyn Chestnutt tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Talia Edwards added 16, Jada Spence finished with 15, Shala Robinson chipped in 11 and Adia Rogers pumped in 10 points to round out the scorers.

The Lady Lions swept the season's tri-match, defeating the Tigers 83-59 on Nov. 30, 2021, 76-36 on Dec. 9, 2021, and tonight 102-59. Historically, Langston improves to 8-1 overall versus Central Christian.

Langston (19-10) advances to the SAC Tournament Quarterfinals and faces the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Friday, March 25 in Chickasha, Okla. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
