No. 3 Langston Defeats Southwestern Christian 83-60

BETHANY – In their first matchup in a week, the No. 3 Langston Lions knocked off Southwestern Christian 83-60 on Saturday evening.

The Lions started the game off strong, building a 38-18 halftime advantage over the Eagles. Langston pushed their lead to as much as 26 points in the second half as they collected the season sweep over Southwestern Christian.

Langston improves to 18-1 overall and remains atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with a 12-1 mark in conference play. Collectively, the Lions finished with five players in double figures while shooting 47 percent (30-of-64) from the field and holding the Eagles attack to 36 percent shooting (24-of-65).

"We played much better defensively than we did a week ago," Langston University head coach Chris Wright said. "To be shorthanded and hold them to twenty points and twenty two percent shooting in the first half was really good. I thought our pressure defensively was the key."

D'Monte Brown led the way with 17 points, AJ Rainey tallied 15 and Tristan Harper chipped in 14 points. Toru Dean racked up 12 and Anthony White rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.

Langston (18-1, 12-1 SAC) travels to McPherson, Kan. to face Central Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m.
