Women's Basketball Holds Off Eagles 62-53

BETHANY – The Langston Lady Lions completed a season sweep of the Southwestern Christian Eagles, winning 62-53 on Saturday.

The Lady Lions led 34-27 entering halftime and stretched their lead to as much as 11 points in the third quarter. The victory keeps the Lady Lions in a fourth-place tie in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with Wayland Baptist.

Hailey Jordan led Langston in scoring with 16 points and Anyia Pride finished with 12 on the day. On the day the Lady Lions hit 40 percent (22-of-55) from the field and held the Eagles to 31 percent shooting (17-of-54) and forced 18 turnovers.

Langston outscored Southwestern Christian 21-11 in points off turnovers, 15-3 in second chance points and 41-17 in total bench points.

Langston (13-6, 8-5 SAC) returns to the road to face Central Christian in McPherson, Kan. On Tuesday, Jan. 24. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
