No. 2 Langston Prevails in OT vs No. 4 LSUS

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 2 Langston University Lions needed overtime but ultimately prevailed in clash of top-four teams, defeating the No. 4 LSU-Shreveport Pilots 71-59 on Tuesday afternoon.

Entering overtime at 56-56, the Lions defense answered the call by holding the Pilots offense to 0-for-8 from the field. Langston allowed only three free throws in the extra frame and managed to outscore LSUS 15-3 sealing the win.

Langston finished one-for-four in the overtime period but knocked down 12-of-14 free throws to remain undefeated at 11-0 overall. For the second straight year under head coach Chris Wright the Lions have finished the opening semester with an unblemished record.

The Lions were led by two players posting double-doubles in Cortez Mosley with 14 points and 12 boards and Jay Allen-Tovar tallying 12 points and 12 rebounds. Toru Dean added 13 along with Anthony Roy and D'Monte Brown chipping in 10 points apiece.

Langston (11-0, 5-0 SAC) returns to action in 2024. The Lions open the spring semester at Mid-America Christian on Thursday, Jan. 4. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Okla.
