Langston Roars Past SAGU Lions

LANGSTON – Four Lady Lions scored in double figures as the Langston University women's basketball team knocked off the Southwestern Assemblies of God Lions 76-53 on Saturday inside the C.F. Gayles Field House.

Langston trailed 20-17 at the conclusion of the first quarter but put the clamps on in the second and third quarters by outscoring SAGU 15-7 and 21-9. Langston led by as much as 22 in the fourth quarter as they improved to 7-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Koreea Kirksey turned in a season-high 19 points, Hailey Jordan added 17, Kameron Shelley finished with 12 and Makayla Transout chipped in 11.

Collectively, Langston hit 45 percent (25-of-55) from the field and held SAGU to 27 percent (12-of-45) and forced 29 turnovers on the day.

Langston (7-2, 2-1 SAC) continues their homestand by hosting the University of North Texas at Dallas on Monday, Dec. 11. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at C.F. Gayles Field House.
