Women's Track and Field Wraps Up SAC Championships

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – The Langston University Lady Lions track and field team returned home from the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships with two first-place finishes and a total of 14 top-ten finishes.

Trinity Wisby took home first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a final time of 14.54 seconds and managed to qualify 'B' standard for the NAIA Outdoor Championships. Wisby is currently ranked 23rd overall in the NAIA in the 100-meter hurdles.

Chasity Veals took the triple jump title with a mark of 11.82-meters; Ahmia Dorsey and Angel Edwards finished second and third respectively with final marks of 10.84-meters and 10.78-meters. Veals has qualified 'A' standard, and Dorsey has qualified 'B' standard for the NAIA Outdoor Championships and are currently ranked seventh and 13th in the NAIA.

Veals, Dorsey and Edwards also placed fourth, sixth and seventh in the long jump with mark of 5.31m, 4.84m and 4.81m. LaJada Owens finished in the fifth at 4.96m and Yazmeen Sarkissian placed tenth at 4.52m.

Owens and Wisby both placed fifth and sixth respectively in the high jump with a mark of 1.35m.

Additionally, Irakoze Amida placed sixth in the 400-meters with a final time of 1:01.13. Auryana Johnson and Dorsey also placed fifth and sixth in the javelin with mark of 28.35m and 27.85m respectively.
