Lady Lions Outlast USAO Drovers

LANGSTON – Hailey Jordan scored a season-high 26 points as the Langston University Lady Lions held off the USAO Drovers 72-64 on Saturday at C.F. Gayles Field House.

The victory pushed the Lady Lions (13-2, 8-1 SAC) win streak to seven games and are off to their best start since the 2014-15 season. Despite playing shorthanded, Langston held USAO to 38 percent (22-of-57) including five-of-22 from three-point range and forced 18 turnovers.

Jordan finished the day 11-of-20 including finishing four-of-five from the free throw line. Shae Routt and Brittany Rivera also tallied double figures with 14 and 10 points apiece.

The Lady Lions led by as much a 19 following a basket by Jordan at the 8:11 mark in the fourth quarter. USAO trimmed the deficit to nine with 19 seconds left but never got closer.

In total, Langston managed to hit 45 percent (28-of-61) from the field and finished 12-of-15 from the free throw line.

Langston (13-2, 8-1 SAC) hits the road to face Oklahoma Panhandle State on Thursday, Jan. 18 in Goodwell, Okla. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
