No. 20 Langston Defeats Lady Rams, Clinch Share of SAC Title

LANGSTON – Jordan Brown scored a team high 16 points as the No. 20 Langston University Lady Lions held off Texas Wesleyan 64-61 on Thursday night.

Trailing 55-54, the Lady Lions worked their way back in front following free throws from Diamond Richardson and a three-point bucket by Mikayla Woods to catapult Langston in front 59-55 with 2:53 remaining.

The four-point advantage held as Langston and Texas Wesleyan traded free throws the rest of the way, eventually sealing the 64-61 victory for the Lady Lions.

Langston improves to 25-2 overall and 21-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, Thursday night's victory assures the Lady Lions a share of the SAC regular season conference title. The Lady Lions have a chance to win the clinch the SAC regular season title outright with a win on Saturday, Feb. 22 versus the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Brown finished with 16 on seven-of-16 shooting and notched five rebounds. Mikayla Woods added 12 points and 14 boards, Koreea Kirksey added 11 and Richardson finished with 10.

Langston (25-2, 21-2 SAC) hosts USAO at home on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
