No. 8 Langston Falls to No. 6 Nelson University in SAC Title Match

LANGSTON – In their regular season finale the No. 8 Langston University Lions fell short to the No. 6 Nelson University Lions 66-58 on Saturday evening inside C.F. Gayles Field House.

Langston entered halftime knotted up at 29-29 and battled Nelson University the rest of the way, leading 48-46 at the 5:23 mark in the second half. NU countered, outscoring Langston 11-6 over the next four minutes to pull in front 59-52. Langston cut the deficit to five but couldn't bridge the gap the rest of the way, falling 66-58 and finishing the regular season at 22-6 overall. This marks the fourth straight year the Lions have tallied 22 wins under head coach Chris Wright.

Antonio Lewis led Langston in scoring with 13 points overall. Omar Henry narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Langston has clinched the second seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament presented by Athletic Solutions. They will square off against John Brown University on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.
