No. 9 Langston Rolls JBU 66-49 in SAC Tourney

LANGSTON – Four players scored in double figures as the No. 9 Langston University Lions dispatched the John Brown University Golden Eagles 66-49 on Wednesday evening at Abe Lemons Arena in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament.

Leading 27-25 at halftime, the Lions opened the second half on a 15-7 scoring run to push their lead to 42-32. Langston never relented in the second half, holding JBU to 29 percent (nine-of-31) and three-of-14 from three-point range in the 66-49 victory.

Langston improves to 23-6 overall and under head coach Chris Wright the Lions have a perfect 10-0 record in the SAC tournament.

Omar Henry led Langston with 19 points, Antonio Lewis added 16 and Orlando Thomas finished with 13. Robert Alexander added 11 and Cameron McCoy finished with 10 boards.

No. 2 seed Langston (23-6) faces No. 3 seed Wayland Baptist on Friday, Feb. 27. Game time is set for 2 p.m. The Lions and Pioneers split their regular season meetings this past season.
