Men's Basketball Unveils 2026-27 Schedule

LANGSTON – Langston University head men's basketball coach Sam Kohnke unveiled the 2026-27 schedule which includes 11 home contests, 10 away contests and seven neutral site match ups.

"We undoubtedly have one of the toughest schedules in the country, and we wouldn't want it any other way," Kohnke said. "We open the season with nine straight games away from home, with six of those nine opponents having played in the national tournament last year. We will face a No. 1 seed from last year's national tournament on three separate occasions throughout the season. Our goal is to challenge our guys early, find out who we are, and prepare ourselves for the level of basketball we expect to be playing in March."

"We're really excited to finally get back in front of our Langston community at C.F. Gayles Field House for our home opener on December 3. We then have the opportunity to play OCU at the Paycom Center just two days later on December 5. It's a demanding schedule, but we believe our student-athletes are built to embrace that challenge."

The Lions opens their season in the Oklahoma Wesleyan Classic in Pryor, Okla. and will face Saint Mary (Kan.) on Friday, October 30th at 1 p.m. and Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday, October 31st at 3 p.m. Langston follows that with a trip to Waxahachie, Texas to take part in the Nelson Classic where they square off against Texas A&M-Texarkana (Nov. 6) and Our Lady of the Lake (Nov. 7).

Sooner Athletic Conference play begins on the road for Langston at Nelson University (Nov. 19), Texas Wesleyan (Nov. 21) and Central Christian (Nov. 23). The month of November wraps up with the Lions taking part in the MACU Classic in Oklahoma City, Okla. versus Southwestern College (Nov. 27) and Bethel College (Nov. 28.)

December begins with the Lions first home of the season versus Southwestern Christian (Dec. 3) followed by a neutral site versus Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center on Dec. 5th and two home contests against Wayland Baptist (Dec. 10) and Panhandle State (Dec. 12).

Langston begins the New Year on the road at USAO on Jan. 7 before hosting Mid-America Christian on Saturday, Jan. 9th. January rounds out with three home match ups versus College of the Ozarks (Jan. 16), Central Christian (Jan. 18), Oklahoma City (Jan. 23) and four road contests at John Brown University (Jan. 14), Southwestern Christian (Jan. 21), Panhandle State (Jan. 28) and Wayland Baptist (Jan. 30).

The final month of the season features four home contests against Texas Wesleyan (Feb. 4), Nelson University (Feb. 6), John Brown University (Feb. 11), USAO (Feb. 20) and two road matchups at College of the Ozarks (Feb. 13) and Mid-America Christian (Feb. 18).
