Wright Adds Jon Warren To Coaching Staff

LANGSTON – Langston University head men's basketball coach Chris Wright announced the first member of the Lions' coaching staff with the hiring of assistant coach Jon Warren.

"What a time! I am beyond thankful to continue to work along the side with Coach (Chris) Wright here at Langston University," assistant coach Jon Warren said. "I want to thank Dr. (Kent) Smith and Director of Athletics Donnita Rogers for believing us and seeing the vision. Let's get to work. L's Up!"

Warren most recently completed his second season as an assistant coach under Coach (Chris) Wright at Talladega College. Warren served as a team captain for three years as he played for Coach Wright at Central Baptist College for one season and then for two seasons at Talladega College. During that time, he tallied 69 wins and three trips to the NAIA National Tournament. Warren was also named to the AMC All-Defensive Team in 2017-2018.

"It is always special to get to coach with a guy that played for you. I have known Jon (Warren) for over 5 years now, and he is like a son to me," head coach Chris Wright said. "I loved coaching him because of how hard he worked and how much he cared. Over the past two years It has been a joy to watch him grow and develop as a coach. He's a great person and a really good basketball coach. He does a lot of things really well that directly correlates to winning games. I am excited to build this program with him on our staff, and our student-athletes are going to love being coached by him on a daily basis."
